Academics at Camp

Academics at Camp

The academic program is designed to provide children with both practice and enrichment in core academics. Students are taught in small groups based on ability, and all academic campers enjoy reading, writing and math. Campers will take part in daily academic activities, and will also get to participate in our special “Friday Club” with the entire camp every Friday!

Our fun-filled reading sessions reinforce a variety of reading strategies and skills ranging from decoding words and building vocabulary, to identifying key elements in a story. Instructors tailor developmentally appropriate learning strategies to each student’s level of ability.

These intensive sessions focus on five key aspects of the writing process: brainstorming, outlining, writing a first draft, editing, and publishing.

These sessions focus on helping children understand mathematical concepts, work with numbers and operations, and develop reasoning and problem-solving skills. iPads are used to provide reinforcement on skills and concepts taught.
