Traveling Teens is the ultimate summer adventure for campers who are ready to get out and explore! Each day brings a brand-new destination and a fresh dose of excitement — from checking out animals at The National Zoo, to tackling high-flying challenges at The Adventure Park, visiting jump and climbing attractions, splashing through water parks, and discovering hidden gems all around the area. Designed for our older campers who crave variety, independence, and nonstop fun, Traveling Teens offers the perfect mix of friendship, freedom, and unforgettable experiences. Buckle up — adventure awaits!

STEM Explorers is where curiosity meets creativity! Designed specifically for older campers, this hands-on program dives into the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and math through engaging projects and real-world challenges. Campers might build and launch rockets, design and test bridges, code their own games, experiment with robotics, and so much more — all while working together to problem-solve, innovate, and have a blast. Whether your camper is an inventor, a builder, or just loves to figure out how things work, STEM Explorers is the perfect place to spark their imagination and inspire their future!

SAT & ACT Prep Camp is the perfect way for students to sharpen their skills and boost their confidence before test day! Taught by experienced high school math and English teachers who specialize in test prep, this program goes beyond simple review — campers will learn proven strategies, insider tips, and time-saving tricks to tackle every section of the SAT and ACT with ease. From mastering tricky math questions to improving reading speed and essay techniques, each session is designed to make studying engaging, supportive, and effective. Give your student the competitive edge they need — and watch their scores soar!

Climb, aim, cast, and soar! S@SS Adventures is the specialty camp that incoporates all the fun in just one week!

Campers will enjoy time on our Low Ropes Course, conquering challenges like the Mohawk Traverse and Spider Web, while building confidence, teamwork, and trust. They will test their rock climbing skills, learning wall safety, knots, belay techniques, and climbing skills — all while discovering the thrill of overcoming obstacles. Certified instructors will coach campers as they improve their archery skills, while they learn the proper techniques and enjoy fun games. Campers will also spend their days fishing, while they learn the basics about gear, bait, and tackle from expert instructors.

And for the ultimate rush, campers will soar through the treetops at one of North America’s largest zip line and aerial tree courses, The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring.

Outdoor Living Skills is the ultimate adventure for campers ready to take on the wild! Designed for older campers who love the outdoors, this program teaches real wilderness survival skills — from building shelters and starting campfires to navigating with a compass, purifying water, identifying edible plants, and practicing outdoor cooking. Each day brings new hands-on challenges that build confidence, teamwork, and self-reliance. Whether they’re learning to thrive off the land or testing their skills in group survival scenarios, campers will walk away feeling empowered, capable, and connected to nature like never before.

Get ready to duck, dodge, and dive in one of camp’s most popular activities — Gaga Ball! This fast-paced, high-energy game takes place inside the Gaga pit, where campers test their reflexes, agility, and strategy. But this workshop goes beyond the basics — campers will learn advanced techniques, explore fun Gaga variations, and even create their own game rules and tournaments. With teamwork, sportsmanship, and plenty of laughter, Gaga Ball Workshop is nonstop action from start to finish!

Junior Enrichment mornings are back and better than ever! Designed just for our Pre-K to 1st grade campers, this program helps young learners strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills in a fun, supportive, and camp-style environment. Whether your child could use a little extra practice or wants a head start on next year’s topics, our experienced instructors will tailor activities to meet each camper’s individual needs. Parents will complete a short survey to share learning goals, and campers will participate in a quick assessment so we can meet them right where they are. It’s the perfect blend of learning and play — helping our youngest campers grow in confidence while still enjoying all the magic of camp!

Please note that to maximize enrichment time, campers may miss some of the daily activities in the Juniors Friends camp schedule.

Whether you have a creative camper who loves making crafts or a budding fashion designer, Summer at Sandy Spring’s Sewing Camp may be just the thing for you. Each week, our instructors will guide campers as they explore their creative sides and learn to make confident design choices.
